Brigade Surgeon Thomas Teevan qualified LRCSI in 1854 and entered the Army Medical Department as an Assistant Surgeon on 30 June 1854.

He served in the Eastern Campaign of 1854–1856 and was present at the Siege and fall of Sebastopol. He received the Crimea Medal with clasp and the Turkish Medal.

Brigade Surgeon Thomas Teevan also took part in the China Campaign of 1860 and was present at the capture of the Taku Forts. He received the Medal with clasp for Taku Forts.

30 June 1854 Appointed Assistant Surgeon 1st/3rd (East Kent-The Buffs) Regiment of Foot vice Assistant Surgeon Dowell O'Reilly Clayton 3rd Foot who was removed from the service (London Gazette 26 May 1854).

24 Mar 1855 Arrived from Piraeus Greece.

13 Apr 1855 Left for Turkey. Served in the Crimea from 17 November 1855. Was present at the siege and fall of Sebastopol.

1856 At Malta as Assistant Surgeon 1st/3rd Foot.

1860 Served in China.

16 Oct 1866 Promoted Staff Surgeon from 1st/3rd (East Kent-The Buffs) Regiment of Foot.

19 Aug 1871 Appointed Surgeon 30th (Cambridgeshire) Regiment of Foot vice Surgeon Alfred Hooper who moved to the Staff.

30 June 1874 Surgeon Major Army Medical Department.

7 Mar 1875 Retired upon temporary half-pay.

26 Feb 1876 Restored to full-pay and was appointed medical officer 98th Regiment of Foot. Moved to the Staff from 98th Foot and was posted to Malta.

1 Apr 1876 Arrived from England.

7 July 1877 To England on sick leave.

13 Feb 1878 Returned to Malta.

16 May 1879 To England on leave.

18 Aug 1879 Returned to Malta.

Feb 1880 Promoted Brigade Surgeon under the provision of the Royal Warrant of 27 November 1879.

6 Apr 1880 To England on sick leave.

30 July 1880 Retired on half-pay with the honorary rank of Deputy Surgeon General.

4 Dec 1884 Married Elizabeth Jane Hall.

24 July 1885 Death of his wife, aged 31 years. She was buried at St Kevin's Park Upper Rathmines Road Dublin.
