20 Jan 1843 Commissioned Staff Assistant Surgeon, vice Staff Assistant Surgeon John Mitchell promoted Assistant Surgeon vice George Archer 78th Foot, who was promoted Staff Surgeon of the Second Class vice Robert Hope Alston Hunter. Hunter was promoted Surgeon 57th Foot, vice Surgeon Alexander Braithwaite Morgan who retired upon half-pay.

24 Mar 1843 Promoted Assistant Surgeon 98th Regiment of Foot. The vacancy on the Staff was filled by Gentleman William McCarthy.

25 Apr 1845 Appointed Staff Assistant Surgeon vice Staff Assistant Surgeon A Carter deceased.

19 June 1845 Married at Kensington by the Rev J F Lateward Rector of Perivale and Chaplain of Twyford Abbey Middlesex, to Eliza Anne, eldest daughter of J Melville Esq of Notting Hill.

10 Jan 1851 Assistant Surgeon 49th (Hertfordshire-The Princess of Wales's) Regiment.

Malta 5 Apr 1853 Arrived from Corfu, accompanied with his wife and family, and detachments of 184 men, 16 wives, and 16 children.

Malta 3 Mar 1854 Surgeon 47th (Lancashire) Regiment of Foot.

Malta 11 Apr 1854 Left for Turkey on board the transport Apollo. Served in the Crimean War with the 47th Foot. Was present at the siege and fall of Sebastopol.

Malta 27 May 1856 Arrived from Turkey.

Malta 31 May 1857 Left for Gibraltar.

11 Mar 1859 Surgeon Military Train.

19 July 1859 Appointed Staff Surgeon vice Surgeon Thomas Bassett Reid, who became Surgeon 92nd Foot on the death of Surgeon David Stewart, at Colaba East Indies on 11 May 1859.

Malta 4 Sep 1859 Arrived from England.

Malta 1860 Staff Surgeon.

Malta 12 Jan 1861 PMO Malta reported that he was: A very zealous officer. Performs his duties with care and attention.

Malta 12 Sep 1861 Left for England.

20 Jan 1863 Staff Surgeon Major.

10 July 1863 Retired to half-pay.
