23 Dec 1836 Promoted Surgeon 41st (The Welsh) Regiment of Foot vice Surgeon Alexander Hamilton MD who was promoted Surgeon 17th Foot on the death of surgeon Henry Wyat Radford. The vacancy created by Wilkins' promotion was filled by Staff Assistant Surgeon Walter Grant, who became assistant surgeon. This gave Gentlemen Andrew Ferguson the opportunity to gain a commission as Assistant Surgeon to the Forces vice Grant.
