7 Jan 1811 Fell ill during the year. A letter from the Army Medical Board letter to Deputy Inspector Green states: "Mr Hornsby's illness, reduced officer of Ordnance Department in Malta".1
May 1812 Succeeded by Surgeon Edward Beck.
5 Aug 1813 Resident Surgeon. In Feb 1813 the OMD had a total of 20 surgeons. Hornsby was second in seniority having joined the department on 1 January 1804.
