Malta 7 Aug 1819 On leave till 6 September 1819.
24 Nov 1819 Death of his second son, Stephen Henry, aged 3 years 3 weeks 1 day who was buried in the Military and Civil Cemetery Floriana.
Malta Jan 1820 Failed to produce a satisfactory half-yearly report for 1819. Inspector of Hospitals John Warren commented that he was "willing to believe it does not arise from a determination to resist the orders of the Board on this subject, but rather conceive it arises from an indolent disposition, and having nothing particular to communicate, as he says".1

Died in December 1822 of dropsy.
