12 Oct 1943 Ceased to remain attached to No 90 General Hospital.
Jan 1944 Promoted Acting Major. OC No 11 Field Surgical Unit which was attached to No 90 General Hospital Mtarfa.
19 Feb 1944 No 11 Field Surgical Unit embarked on HMHS Amarapoora, and docked at Port Said on 23 February. It proceeded to Base Depôt Cairo by rail; on 2 March 1944 it moved by road to Syria.
Jan 1950 War Substantive Captain J E Vaughan Jones relinquished his commission (7 Feb 1946), and was granted the honorary rank of Major.
