20 Aug 1844 Assistant Surgeon 2nd West India Regiment.

17 Mar 1848 Assistant Surgeon 53rd (Shropshire) Regiment of Foot.

14 Oct 1851 Appointed Assistant Surgeon 9th Light Dragoons, vice Assistant Surgeon Eneas Mackintosh Macpherson, promoted Surgeon 59th Foot. The vacancy left in 53rd Foot was filled by Assistant Surgeon Alexander Macrae.

10 Nov 1854 Appointed Surgeon 12th (The Prince of Wales's Royal) Lancers vice Surgeon George Northon Foaker, who died in Madras on 28 July 1854. The vacancy in 9th Light Dragoons was filled on 9 Feb 1855 by the promotion of Assistant Surgeon Christopher Bakewell Bassano 70th Foot.

Served in the Crimean War.

28 Dec 1855 Staff Surgeon 2nd Class.

21 Nov 1862 Surgeon 17th (Leicestershire) Regiment of Foot by exchange with Surgeon James Edmund Clutterbuck.

20 Aug 1864 Surgeon Major 17th Foot.

8 Dec 1869 Staff Surgeon.

Malta 15 June 1872 Arrived from England.

24 July 1872 Deputy Surgeon-General Army Medical Department.

Malta 7 Feb 1873 Left for Bengal.

4 Mar 1879 Retired on half-pay with Honorary Rank of Surgeon-General.
