Introduction

Surgeon Major Edward Moorhead served with the 32nd Regiment at the siege of Mooltan (1849) for which he received a medal with clasp. He was also in the suppression of the Indian Mutiny. Surgeon General Moorhead died at Margate in May 1895, aged 75 years.

2 Aug 1842 Assistant Surgeon 32nd (Cornwall) Regiment of Foot.

25 Sept 1855 Surgeon 29th (Worcestershire) Regiment of Foot.

2 Aug 1862 Promoted Surgeon-Major 29th (Worcestershire) Regiment of Foot under the provision of the Royal Warrant of 1 October 1858.

Malta 30 June 1865 Arrived at Malta.
During the cholera epidemic of 3 July – 12 November 1865 was in medical charge of the 29th Regiment at Fort Ricasoli.

Malta 1866 At Malta.

Malta 9 June 1867 Left Malta.

14 Sept 1867 Promoted Staff Surgeon Major.

22 Jan 1868 Retired with the honorary rank of Deputy Surgeon General.
