Surgeon Major Edward Moorhead served with the 32nd Regiment at the siege of Mooltan (1849) for which he received a medal with clasp. He was also in the suppression of the Indian Mutiny. Surgeon General Moorhead died at Margate in May 1895, aged 75 years.

22 Jan 1868 Retired with the honorary rank of Deputy Surgeon General.
