1 Oct 1862 Staff Assistant Surgeon.

17 Nov 1863 Appointed Assistant Surgeon 103rd Royal Bombay Fusiliers.

On 17 November 1863, two assistant surgeons were appointed to infantry regiments numbered 101st to 109th inclusive. Fourteen Staff Assistant Surgeons out of the 16 who had obtained commissions in 1862 were promoted assistant surgeons.

These were: John Barlow Hannah and William Pile (101st 1st/Royal Munster Fusiliers), William James Tyrrell and Gough Ashton (102nd 1st/Royal Dublin Fusiliers), John Edward Fannin and Richard Hall (103rd 2nd/Royal Dublin Fusiliers), Emil Becher and Thomas Parker Smith (104th 2nd/Royal Munster Fusiliers), Thomas Ceil Morgan and John Langdon (105th 2nd/Yorkshire Light Infantry), Samuel Flood and William Folliott (106th 2nd/Durham Light Infantry), John Ross Murray and John Dustan (107th 2nd/Royal Sussex), Thomas Dodd Milburn and Ignatius McDonogh O’Farrell (108th 2nd/Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers), Alexander Ferrier Churchill and Nicol Carter (109th 2nd/Leinster).

11 Nov 1864 Assistant Surgeon 33rd (Duke of Wellington) Regiment.

23 Oct 1867 Staff Assistant Surgeon.

25 Apr 1868 Assistant Surgeon 7th (the princess Royal's) Dragoon Guards.

5 May 1869 Staff Assistant Surgeon.

Malta 7 Mar 1870 Arrived from England but died at Valletta from general debility on 15 Mar 1870. He had reached England from Bombay on 21 Feb 1870. Lies buried at Ta' Braxia Cemetery.
