Introduction

Deputy Surgeon General Thomas Blatherwick had four children: Thomas (born 1855), Henry (1858–1924) Amy (born 1859, Quebec) and Louise (born 29 July 1862, Quebec).
Henry Blatherwick MRCS LRCP received his medical education at Guy's Hospital and went into practice at Dulwich London.

Deputy Surgeon General Thomas Blatherwick died at his residence No 4 Queen's Mead Road, Bromley Kent, aged 79 years.

Service Record — Thomas Blatherwick

4 June 1847 Commissioned Assistant Surgeon 67th (South Hampshire) Regiment of Foot vice Assistant Surgeon Vere Webb, who was appointed to the Staff vice Staff Assistant Surgeon James McNab. McNab was promoted to 78th Foot vice Assistant Surgeon William Bowie who died at Belgaum India, on 4 March 1847.

3 Aug 1849 Staff Assistant Surgeon.

1849 – 1850 Served in Chatham.

15 Sept 1853 Married Henrietta.

1850 – 1862 Served in Canada.

31 Dec 1858 Promoted Staff Surgeon of the 2nd Class.

1863 – 1864 Served in Cork.

Malta 13 May 1865 Arrived from England.

Malta 9 Feb 1866 Returned to Chatham England.

1866 – 1870 Served in Chatham.

4 June 1867 Promoted Staff Surgeon Major.

1870 – 1874 Served in Netley.

6 Jan 1875 Retired on half-pay with the honorary rank of Deputy Surgeon General.
