21 Feb 1797 Appointed Hospital Mate. On duty in England.

May 1797 Posted to the West Indies. On duty in Jamaica until October 1802.

25 June 1800 Appointed Assistant Surgeon 20th Regiment of Dragoons.

Oct 1802 – May 1805 On duty in England.

9 July 1803 Appointed Surgeon 7th Battalion of Reserve.

3 Dec 1803 Appointed Surgeon 39th (East Middlesex) Regiment of Foot.

May 1805 – Aug 1811 Served in the Mediterranean.

Malta 1807 On duty with his regiment.

Malta 26 May 1808 On six months leave of absence.

25 Nov 1808 Listed as absent without leave but returned in June 1809.

Malta June 1809 Surgeon 39th (Dorsetshire) Regiment of Foot.

Malta 1810 Surgeon 39th Foot.

Malta 1811 Left Malta for Portugal.

Aug 1811 – June 1814 Served in the Peninsular War (1808 – 1814). He was present at the battles of Vitoria, Pyrenees, Nivelle, Nive, Orthes and Toulouse.

June 1814 – June 1815 Served in North America.

June 1815 – July 1815 On duty in England.

July 1815 – Oct 1818 On duty in France.

Oct 1818 – 11 June 1828 On duty in England.

29 May 1823 Surgeon 3rd Regiment of Dragoons.

12 June 1828 Retired to half-pay.
