Owing to the prevailing war conditions, he was retained on the active list under the provisions of Articles 120 and 522 Royal Warrant for Pay and Promotion. He served until 1919, beyond his retiring age of 55 years.1

Malta Mar 1917 Surgeon-Major A E Mifsud, was brought to the notice of the Secretary of State for War for valuable services rendered in connection with the war.2
Attached to HQ Coy Royal Malta Artillery, which in turn was attached to No 2 Coy RMA.
