18 Aug 1806 Hospital Mate.

7 July 1808 Assistant Surgeon 20th (East Devonshire) Regiment of Foot.

Aug 1808–Mar 1809 Served in the Peninsular War with 20th Regiment.

Nov 1812–Oct 1813 On duty in the Peninsular War with 20th Foot.

9 Sept 1813 Surgeon 1st/28th (North Gloucestershire) Regiment of Foot.

Oct 1813–Apr 1814 Served in the Peninsular War with 1st/28th Regiment.

Malta 1818 Arrived at Malta.

Mar 1818 Left for the Ionian Islands.

28 Apr 1819 Retired to half-pay of 71st Foot. He was replaced by Surgeon Samuel Crosier Roe, 55th Foot, who became surgeon 28th Foot.

9 Oct 1823 Surgeon 24th (2nd Warwickshire) Regiment of Foot, vice Surgeon Jonathan Featherston 24th Foot who retired to half-pay.

3 Apr 1835 Retired to half-pay. Surgeon John Shortt 79th Foot became surgeon 24th Foot vice Byrtt.

9 Oct 1845 Died aged 59 years. A memorial tablet is at Christ Church Belfast.
