20 Mar 1828 Assistant Surgeon 56th (West Essex) Regiment of Foot.

Malta 21 Mar 1828–20 Sept 1828 Served at Malta and The Ionian Islands.

20 Sept 1828 Left for Ireland.

24 Sept 1841 Surgeon 23rd (Royal Welsh Fusiliers) Regiment of Foot.

1845–1846 Collected orchids in Trinidad.

16 Apr 1852 Staff Surgeon 1st Class (Surgeon–Major).

7 Dec 1858 Retired to half-pay with the honorary rank of Deputy Inspector–General. Was awarded a reward for distinguished and meritorious service.

19 July 1859–31 July 1867 Recalled from half-pay. Appointed Surgeon Royal Military College, vice Surgeon John Pickering, who retired upon half-pay as a Surgeon-Major, under the Royal Warrant of 1 Oct 1858.

16 Aug 1859 Appointed Honorary Surgeon to the Queen.

1859 Elected a Fellow of the Linean Society.

4 Jan 1888 Died at Harrow aged 86 years.
